About Us

Who Are We?

We are a young couple from Ontario, Canada, with one major goal. To live on our boat. We are active, adventurous, and.. we are vegan. We love food, video games, anything to do with the water, reading, adventure, travel, health, animals, and generally having a good time!

The Boat

We are restoring a 1972 Pearson 30 Sailboat, with an Atomic 4 gas engine.  The boat in the photo above is not ours, but the same model. We don't yet have any good photos of her, though hopefully we will soon!!

  1. Congratulations on taking the first step of chasing your dream! My wife and I took a smaller step ourselves last Spring with a modest C22. The biggest lesson that I've learned in the past year of restoring and refitting out sailboat is the realization that we didn't know what we didn't know and we didn't know anybody who knew.

We bought a solid starter boat that we didn't think needed much and it didn't, truth be told. But coming up on our first anniversary with it, I'm looking at a 100% reinvestment to get it the way we want it to be. We underestimated both what it would take and what we would want to do with it.

On the other hand, we've had a blast learning to sail and learning to sail together. You're definitely in for some marriage-building exercises! Never put off sailing in order to just work on the boat. Don't lose sight of why you bought it in the first place--the adventure!

In closing, you're going to want to save costs wherever you can and I'm sure you've gotten some great advice so far. But I'll throw my blog at stingysailor.wordpress.com into the ring as well for whatever benefit you can get out of it.

Best wishes, and I hope to read about your triumphs and setbacks here on your blog.

    Ever windward,
    Ken
